Created by a generous bequest from Ora Lee and J. Ernest Hill, the Opera Birmingham Endowment Fund is held and managed by the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham. The Community Foundation currently manages charitable assets in excess of $125 million for the benefit of the community. The Opera Birmingham Endowment Fund provides a lasting and significant source of funding for our productions each and every season. Dedicated, named funds are available for endowment gifts of $25,000 or more. In most cases, gifts to the Endowment Fund come in the form of bequests and legacies made in the form of cash, life insurance proceeds, securities and real property. Charitable remainder trusts which provide lifetime income—at very favorable interest rates—for the donor and ultimately benefit the Opera are also available through the Community Foundation.
